TestVibe 0.4.21

All release notes · Self-hosted upgrade guide

2026-10-30. Self-hosted packages are version-pinned to 0.4.21 from application and appliance tooling source 8c417c3e8fe10203d68758ba129c3665cff91a39, tagged v0.4.21.

Reusable blocks are found automatically

  • TestVibe now looks for reusable blocks after every change to a test's steps, whether the change came from the editor, generation, the recorder, the Assistant, an import, Git sync or the REST API/CLI. Discovery waits for edits to settle, skips unchanged tests and skips workspaces without credit headroom. It never blocks or fails the save that triggered it.
  • Project Settings → Blocks is one list in plain language. Each block links back to the test it came from, and a discovery error is reported once instead of on every save.
  • One malformed AI reply or invalid step range no longer fails a whole discovery job.

Editing and running tests

  • Gherkin keywords, strings, tags, comments, placeholders and table pipes are colored in the test editor and everywhere Gherkin is displayed read-only.
  • Every rerun action is labelled Run again.
  • On the run page, Accepted run inputs starts collapsed so the result and any failures come first.
  • Runs started from a test branch no longer fail with a "no access" error.
  • The recorder's AI step drafting handles clicks on container areas of the page, and explains when it is skipped because the workspace has no credits.

Assistant

  • The Assistant can read the commit history of the project's repositories.
  • An application repository granted from the repository picker is now honored by the Assistant.
  • The context chip shows a test's current name, the Assistant says Tests instead of Features, and opening the Assistant from a test reopens that test's existing thread.
  • The setup guide no longer covers the Assistant's model picker and send button.

Analytics, connections and models

  • Analytics → Test health counts a test by its latest recorded run result. Tests authored as code, or run under a group name other than the default, were previously reported as drafts even when they had passing runs.
  • Project Settings → Connections → GitHub lists the repositories that hold the project's tests and its website source.
  • Claude Opus 5.5 is available alongside Opus 5 where an Anthropic provider is configured.
  • Sections load faster, dark-mode secondary text is easier to read, and the target HTTPS CA panel appears only on self-hosted installations.
  • Copy fixes: the Gherkin first-step hint no longer shows stray backslashes, and Billing headings and several menu labels use consistent wording.

Database migrations

This release adds PostgreSQL migration V0325__authoring_discovery_auto (pending-discovery queue and the save trigger that feeds it) and V0324 (Claude Opus 5.5 model registration and rate). The bundled migrations service applies them before the new application starts. Back up the database first.

Packages and checksums

Use the authenticated customer portal and verify that the selected deployment format offers 0.4.21.

  • testvibe-selfhosted-v0.4.21.zip and .tar.gz: Compose and bundled Helm chart.
  • oci://testvibe.azurecr.io/charts/testvibe, chart version 0.4.21.
  • testvibe-0.4.21.vhdx.tar: Hyper-V OS and new-install DATA disks, compressed with Zstandard inside the tar archive.
  • testvibe-0.4.21.ova: VMware / VirtualBox appliance.

Verify downloaded files against the matching SHA256SUMS catalog.

Upgrade while preserving DATA

Allow active work to finish, back up the database, artifacts, configuration and original protection keys, and retain the old disks for recovery.

For Hyper-V, shut down the VM, extract the tar archive and decompress testvibe-0.4.21-os.vhdx.zst to .vhdx. Replace only the OS disk and keep the existing DATA disk attached once as the second disk. Do not replace it with the blank DATA disk supplied for new installations.

Boot, allow migration/startup to complete, check the installed version and open an existing run and artifact. Compose and Kubernetes operators should use the version-pinned bundle or chart and preserve their configuration, secrets and persistent volumes. Follow the upgrade guide and backup guide. Switching an old OS onto a migrated database is not a complete rollback.

Validation scope

Each change passed the React and .NET suites before merge and was deployed to TestVibe Cloud development and production first. The standard publishers verify package/source identity, credential exclusion, image/chart publication, native basic boot and installation identity, archive structure, checksums and download-store object names.

Customer hypervisor import, legacy upgrade/restore and independent Compose/Kubernetes acceptance were not run for this release.
